Rules

  • No Parties - Only guests that are registered are allowed in the unit for liability reasons.

  • No Smoking or Candles - No cigarettes, pot, vaping, or candles inside the units, or outside on the grounds as Charleston is filled with irreplaceable historic charm.

  • No Pets - We ask that you think of future guests that have specifically booked a pet-free vacation rental because of allergies.

  • Noise Ordinance - The City of Charleston has an enforeceable Noise Ordinance in place from 11pm to 7am.

I just booked a property with Holy City Vacation Rentals. What are the next steps?
1. You receive an email with the Renter's Agreement that you'll need to complete with all names and DOB of guests staying with us.  
2. Email a copy of your photo ID to: info@holycityvacationrentals.com
3. You'll receive an email to set up your Security Deposit hold. (For Airbnb guests only.)
Once the items above are completed, you'll receive a Confirmation email.

What is Travel Insurance and Should I Get it?
Travel Insurance is optional, but a smart idea during these unprecedented times. This insurance covers you for cancellations. Holy City Vacation Rentals offers a convenient "Cancel for Any Reason" travel insurance link at the bottom of your Confirmation Email, but guests can choose from any insurance carrier at will.

When do I get Check-in Instructions? 
You'll receive a check-in email two days before your scheduled arrival. That email will have information for parking, door codes, and wifi codes, as well as other info particular to your vacation rental.

Early Check-In or late Check-Out
Even if the property is vacant prior to your check-in date, we rarely are able to accommodate due to our housekeeping and maintenance team schedules. 

Are there specific hours for checking in?
We proudly offer our guests contactless check-in with smart locks anytime after 4pm on the date of arrival. You'll receive your special door code approximately 2 days prior to arrival, via email. Please note that door codes will not activate prior to 4pm.

Where is the nearest grocery store?
While some guests shop on their way in or go out to one of the larger grocery stores in town, we find that many guests order some needed groceries online for delivery after they arrive. Charleston offers a Harris Teeter and a Publix on the peninsula, both of which also deliver. Additionally, Instacart and Whole Foods are popular grocery delivery services.

We have more than one car...where can we park our second car?
There is a City of Charleston Parking Garage about a block away, located at 518 King Street. They charge a maximum $18 per day.

Where do we put the trash?
You'll find a designated trash bin with your unit letter on it by the parking area.

Do we have to clean our rental before we leave?
Cleaning is included in your rental charge so you are not expected to clean the unit before you leave. We do ask guests to complete a few tasks before leaving. This includes making sure all trash is disposed of, dishes clean and/or the dishwasher started, all personal possessions cleared of the property, and doors and windows secured. A copy of our "Check-Out Procedures" is emailed to you the evening before departure. We reserve the right to charge an additional fee if the property is not left in an acceptable manner.

What is the Cancelation Policy?
Please review our cancellation policy under, detailed at the bottom of your Confirmation Email.

Is there a Security Deposit?
We require a security deposit hold which is then released 7 days after departure pending no charges against the deposit.

Are your properties Pet Friendly?
We advertise all of our units as not allowing pets. Because of this, we have allergy-susceptible guests who specifically choose our rentals so that they can be assured a healthy stay for their visit to Charleston. We ask that all guests respect our no-pet policy and have penalties in place for non-compliance.

Can I really not smoke? 
Charleston is full of grand old wooden homes, many dating over a hundred years old. To honor our homes and those of our neighbors, we don't allow smoking or candles in the interior or extrior of our homes. Please note there are additional fees for non-compliance. King Street is a loving area for a walk and a smoke!

What's in the Rental and what do I need to bring?
All units include linens for the beds and towel sets for each guest. We also offer complimentary starter shampoo/conditioner and soap, as well as dishwashing pod, laundry pod, trash bag, sponge, coffee pods, paper towels, toilet paper, and more. Please note this is a starter supply and may not cover your entire visit. All properties include washer/dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, iron, and ironing board. TV and internet access is standard in all our properties. If you have a large group or an extended stay, you may need to purchase additional consumables such as toilet paper, etc.

Is Wifi Provided?
Yes, TV and internet access is standard in all our properties. 

Do you supply cribs, high chairs or other baby-related items?
We do not provide any baby equipment at this time but can recommend rental companies Baby's Away or Tots Around Town. 

What airport do we fly into?
CHS is Charleston International Airport. You can then either rent a car at the airport, or there are rideshares services such as Uber readily available.

Do you accept 3rd Party individual bookings?
The person making the reservation must be staying on property. 

Do you work with Airbnb, VRBO, and other online travel agencies?
Holy City Vacation Rentals has a great relationship with these sites. Please note that these sites charge additional fees not charged when a guest books directly via our website.

I have a problem and am now unhappy. What can I do?
Holy City Vacation Rentals really wants our guests to be happy! Please reach out immediately to see how we can help resolve the issue at hand. While we always strive for a perfect stay with no issues, occasionally there may be one and we are ready to solve it as quickly as possible.  

What if we have an emergency during our stay?
If you are having a medical emergency, please dial 911. We hope that your stay will be free of incidents, but should you need help, please contact Holy City Vacation Rentals at 843-212-1341. Please do not hesitate to call us if something needs immediate attention, but if your concern can wait, we ask that you call the office during normal office hours.
